What Rings True — The Cowbell Difference
Agriculture
Beltane Ranch is committed to sustainability—and even put a cute face to regenerative farming. Their flock of sheep, who feed on invasive weeds and help fertilize fields, includes “Wally, the Wooly Weeder” a Southdown Babydoll lamb who has become the ranch’s pet.
Locality
Beltane’s organic garden and orchard grows heirloom vegetables and stone fruits for their kitchen and serves as a stop for pollinators. Aside from actively farmed land, Beltane stewards over 100 acres, providing a habitat for wildlife and native flora, recharging groundwater and sequestering carbon.
Enrichment
Beltane has a rich history, with its first official vineyard planted in 1879. It was also once home to Mary Ellen Pleasant, a storied abolitionist, entrepreneur, and among the most powerful Black women of Gold-Rush-era California. Explore the ways the land and vineyard have developed during your visit with a guided ranch tour and tasting.
Meet The Stewards
Beltane Ranch has fourth, fifth, and sixth generation family members pitching in to continue its
legacy of land stewardship and regenerative wine growing.
