Reasons To Go

Sign up for “Goat Snuggle” sessions, hosted on select days throughout the year. A mix of Alpine, Nubian, and Sanaan breeds, Big Picture’s goats are central to the farm, which also produces caramels, chocolates, and cheese from their milk.

Meet the Goats

Scoop up farm-fresh souvenirs at the farm’s shop down the road in the village of Townshend. Treats and homewares like tea towels and tees are decorated with illustrations by Big Picture’s co-owner, Louisa Conrad.

Shop the Farm Store

Unplug with a weekend away at one of Big Picture’s three stays, from a farmhouse with a pool fit for up to 16 guests to a contemporary country oasis, The Solar Cabin, that’s perfect for a pair.

Cozy Up in the Countryside

“Our mission is to integrate agriculture and narrative in a fresh way that properly evokes the place, animals, and work in order to bring to life the exciting and unpredictable evolution of our products, farm, and lives. Our goal is spelled out in our name: to provide our customers with the rich context surrounding our products.”

WHAT RINGS TRUE — THE COWBELL DIFFERENCE

Agriculture

Big Picture is animal-welfare approved, 100% solar-powered, and uses regenerative farming methods like rotationally grazing goats on perennial and annual forages.

Locaility

For its farm-made goodies, Big Picture sources ingredients from Vermont-based producers whenever possible and uses zero-waste, climate-forward packaging materials.

Enrichment

Want to know more about life with goats? Farm stay guests can explore the barnyard during private goat hangouts, and learn all about raising these social, sweet animals.

Meet The Stewards

Louisa Conrad and Lucas Farrell, an artist and a poet respectively, moved to Vermont in 2010 with the hopes of creating a goat-milk caramel business. With hard work that dream came true, and their award-winning confections are now sold across the country. They share Big Picture Farm with more than 40 goats and their two daughters, Maisie and Minna.
