Reasons To Go
Cook, Create, and Connect in the Historic Farmhouse
The renovated, circa 1840s farmhouse offers plenty of room to spread out, with five bedrooms, a cozy library, and a tavern with a wood-paneled bar, large fireplace and brick oven that can be fired up for pizza night. Visitors are welcome to harvest veggies from the fields for dinner, or gather eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast.
Host a Celebration
Thoughtfully renovated spaces, like the farmhouse ballroom lined with hand-painted French Dufour wallpaper, make beautiful backdrops for small celebrations like birthdays and micro weddings .
Visit for the Day
Open Farmhouse hosts events that celebrate the cycle of the New England farm year, including farm-to-table dinners, community potlucks, and holiday markets. They also operate a farm stand filled with seasonal produce. Check their calendar of events for upcoming programs.
“ We believe that making food a central feature of our events allows us to find common ground in an increasingly divided society. Our favorite event series is our community potlucks, which are free and open to all. We ask folks to bring something to share and everyone gets a chance to try that new recipe. This is when we feel the most connected and when we also get to learn from each other. It’s especially an honor when some of the older farmer folks come out and share their wisdom from years of trial and error.”

WHAT RINGS TRUE — THE COWBELL DIFFERENCE
Agriculture
Open Farmhouse is an initiative of Warrup's Farm, which has been in co-founder Lincoln Hill’s family for seven generations. His parents, Laura Selleck and Bill Hill, were early pioneers in Connecticut’s organic movement. The family continues their long-running mission of farming responsibly and offering opportunities for engagement with the land.
Locality
Collaborations with local artisans, chefs, wine makers, and other regional producers take place throughout the year during special events including community yoga, workshops, special farm markets, and themed dinners, like Vinyl Garden where vegetarian tapas are paired with vintage records.
Enrichment
Among Open Farmhouse’s goals are building a regenerative community and providing equitable access to farm, live, and create. Through the Open Farmhouse Solidarity Fund, BIPOC creatives who wish to book an event can apply to have some amount of the costs offset.
Meet The Stewards
Lincoln Hill, who grew up on the farm, met Cody Lincoln while studying anthropology at Concordia University in Montreal. After moving back to the States, they teamed up to bring Open Farmhouse to life, combining Lincoln’s lifetime of experience farming and building with his own two hands with Cody’s experience building community and creating mission driven projects. Today Cody and Lincoln live onsite, with the help of Lincoln’s folks who live down the way, family, friends, and neighbors.
